- aluminium: a light, strong silver-colored metal
- banana hands: very large, clumsy fingers
- bicep: the muscle on the front of the upper arm
- bingo wings: British slang for loose skin under the upper arms
- bonnet (car): the cover over a car’s engine (US: hood)
- bonnet (hat): an old-fashioned hat tied under the chin
- boot (car): the storage space at the back of a car (US: trunk)
- cabbage: a round vegetable with layered leaves
- chef: a professional cook
- chief: the leader of a group
- cloves: small sections of a garlic bulb
- ear of corn: the part of corn holding kernels
- flabby (skin): loose, soft skin without firmness
- gringo: a Mexican Spanish word for a foreigner, especially from an English-speaking country
- head of corn: a cluster of corn kernels on a cob
- head of garlic: a whole bulb made of cloves
- hood (car): the cover over a car’s engine (UK: bonnet)
- hood (clothes): a covering for the head, often connected to a hoody/sweater
- hoodwinked: tricked or deceived
- It’s all Greek to me: I can’t understand it at all
- kaput: broken and not working
- mouse: a small rodent with a long tail
- mousey: shy and not confident
- muscle: body tissue used for movement
- mussel: a shellfish with two shells
- niche: a specialized area or role
- pet peeve: something that annoys you greatly
- rat: a large rodent with a long tail
- sewer: an underground system carrying waste water
- to be put on the spot: to be forced to answer immediately
- to rat on somebody: to tell authorities about someone’s wrongdoing
- trunk (car): the storage space at the back of a car (UK: boot)
- trunk (box): a large storage box/chest for belongings
